Preston Opera presents Verdi’s Macbeth
Ghosts and witches… a dysfunctional marriage… power, corruption and homeless refugees – all classic ingredients for Verdi’s first experience of creating a musical version of Shakespeare’s dark and dramatic ‘Scottish Play’!
The opera combines both Verdi’s fascination with the Bard and the supernatural: a full ladies chorus of witches – ‘vulgar yet bizarre’- a ghostly procession of kings and a unique anti-hero and heroine in Macbeth and his ambitious Lady. Preston Opera is delighted to present this powerful opera, under the baton of renowned conductor, Helen Harrison, featuring a top line-up of classically-trained singers with the famous Preston Opera Chorus and Preston Opera Orchestra.
