Coming to Preston Guild Hall in September are iconic British ska-rockers The Beat!
Formed in 1978, and now headed up by original band member Dave Wakeling, The Beat are known to mash up the genres. Throughout their career they’ve carved out a niche of music, creating a mish-mash of ska, reggae, pop, soul, latin, and rock, to create a sound that stands unique within the post-punk realms, and they’ve lost none of their potency.
The ska-rockers are currently making waves with news of their upcoming album, Here We Go Love, set to be released this year, having recently released their latest single ‘How Can You Stand There?’, an incredibly uplifting piece of uptempo ska with rock undertones.
The Beat Starring Dave Wakeling will be playing Preston Guild Hall’s Live venue on Friday 7th September, with doors at 7:00pm. With classic tunes such as ‘Tears Of A Clown’, ‘Save It For Later’, ‘Rotating Head’ (known for scoring the chase scene in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off), and their best known track ‘Mirror In The Bathroom’, The Beat are guaranteed to put on one scorcher of a show.

“[The English Beat are] more popular now than ever.” – San Francisco Chronicle
“[Dave Wakeling] has assembled an incredible band and is playing his hits with the same raucous enthusiasm that made The English Beat one of the biggest acts of the New Wave Era… Every time they play, The Brew [San Luis Obispo, CA] is packed to the gills with an audience bouncing in unison.” – SLO New Times
