You shall go to the Ball! This year’s Panto is Cinderella!

Preston Guild Hall are delighted to announce that this year’s Pantomime will be Cinderella! Welcoming back the hilarious comedian Phil Walker, who will once again be writing and directing the show as well as starring in it!

His productions of Sleeping Beauty, Jack and the Beanstalk and Aladdin received rave reviews from audiences and critics alike and we’re delighted that he’s with us again for 2018!

The eponymous heroine will be played by Jade Natalie, who is best known for her role as the pixie-haired and bespectacled member of Nick Jr’s childrens pop band ‘Go!Go!Go!’, who have performed 3 times on the West End, had two national theatre tours, successfully entered the UK official charts in 2014 with their album ‘Radio Go!Go!Go!’. Natalie has also starred in productions of Romeo and Juliet, Rapunzel, Jack and the Beanstalk, Aladdin, and Sleeping Beauty. Natalie is said to be ‘thrilled to be performing at Preston Guild Hall this year.’

Playing Prince Charming Will be Natalie’s co-star from Go!Go!Go!, singer, songwriter, and actor Carl Tracey. His Pantomime credits include the role of Peter Pan, Prince Charming in ‘Cinderella’, ‘Beast’ in ‘Beauty & The Beast’ ‘Aladdin’, from last year’s Panto here in Preston!

Playing the roles of the ugly sisters will be the dynamic duo that is Jamie Morris and Tarot Joseph. Morris, an established and formidable entertainer, first began his career at the age of 19, and has since worked with many number one theatres in the UK, alongside big names such as Anna Karen, Ruth Madoc, Amanda Barrie, and Keith Chegwin. Joseph also has a wealth of experience within the entertainment industry, having been a DJ for a number of years, as well as being a talented costume designer, creating his own wigs for himself and Morris. The two own J & T Productions Blackpool Ltd, and this will be the 10th Panto in which they have played the Ugly Sisters alongside each other.

Bringing a sense of wit and magic to the show will be Canadian comedian Allyson June Smith in the role of the Fairy Godmother. Smith, who has won awards for her comedy in her native Canada, and who is now settled in Manchester, was described by Jason Manford as “Simply one of the funniest comedians I’ve ever worked with,”.

The role of Dandini, the Prince’s faithful manservant, goes to Jack Harper, a young actor who was raised in Oldham, and has starred in Cold Feet, Broken, Free Rein, and had roles on stage in Our Day Out and Political Will.

Playing Baron Hardup, Cinderella’s father, it’s Charlie Cairoli Jr.! As the son of the famous clown Charlie Cairoli, Charlie Jr. spent the first ten years of his career performing in their musical comedy and slosh acts in the tower circus in Blackpool. He quickly established his own brand of zany slapstick humour after taking over the role from his father. His TV credits include Crackerjack, Krazy Kitchen, and a televised 80th birthday of the London Palladium show.

Take a look at the highlights from our panto Aladdin (Dec 17 to Jan 18)!

Performing the classic album ‘STRANGE TIMES’

Plus Special Guests ONE SIDED HORSE & THE CAPITAL

ChameleonsVox is the continuation of legendary Chameleons UK, arguably the most influential band ever to come out of Manchester. ChameleonsVox features vocalist, bassist and principle composer Mark Burgess.

The Chameleons were an English post-punk band formed in Middleton, Greater Manchester. The band consisted of singer and bassist Mark Burgess, guitarists Reg Smithies and Dave Fielding, and drummer John Lever.

The Chameleons released their debut album, ‘Script of the Bridge’, in 1983. They shortly followed that with ‘What Does Anything Mean? Basically’ and ‘Strange Times’ in 1985 and 1986 before disbanding in 1987 due to the sudden death of the band’s manager.

In 2009, Burgess and Lever reformed to play Chameleons back catalogue material, under the name ChameleonsVox. They issued an EP, ‘M+D=1(8), in November 2013. Sadly Lever died in 2017 however Burgess carries ChameleonsVox on.

Please note: For events in LiVe (venue), the time stated on the website is the DOORS time.

All ages welcome, under 14’s must be accompanied by an adult over 18.

Britain’s hottest new comedy stars!

Join us for a comedy showcase evening featuring some of the funniest finalists and winners of Britain’s Got Talent from the past few years!

We’re delighted to have the talented Lost Voice Guy on the bill! With a comedy career beginning in 2012, Lost Voice Guy (real name Lee Ridley) stands out from most comedians through his disability, which has left him unable to speak (hence the name!). He channels his comedic gift through a communication aid, riffing on daily life, improvisation, and his experiences of disability. In June 2018, Ridley won the 12th series of Britain’s Got Talent, having made it through the audition stages and winning the show by a public vote. Ridley is also an alumni of our very own UClan!

Next up, bringing a little bit of magic to our stage, it’s Mandy Muden! Otherwise known as Magic Mandy, Muden is a London-based comedian and magician. A member of the Magic Circle, she was awarded the Magic Circle Carlton Award for Comedy in Magic, and was the first and only woman to host the secretive group. Adding to her list of accomplishments, she is also a trained actress, and has been in theatre productions of both Aladdin and Cinderella! We’re very excited to see her perform!

We’ve also got Mickey P Kerr, a comedian who uses the vehicle of music to deliver his act! He delivered an intense passion for music at an early age, describing locking himself ‘away for days on end. Folk came to marvel at this spectacle. Some would flatten sandwiches and pass them under his door, others would simply sit, wait and listen.’ At the age of 20 he wrote his first song, and in his own words it was “sad, melancholy, and crap”. He’s gotten a lot better since then. The comedian from Leeds has also performed at Edinburgh Fringe Festival, was a runner-up in the 2016 Musical Comedy Awards, and was a finalist in the latest series of Britain’s Got Talent.

Next on the line-up is 2017 finalist Daliso Chaponda, who came third in the 2017 se ries of Britain’s Got Talent. Chaponda was born in Malawi, and has since lived in various countries such as Thailand, Australia, and Switzerland. In 2001, while living in Canada, he began his comedy career, performing at stand-up clubs and open mic nights. During one of his Britain’s Got Talent performances, he was given the prestigious ‘Golden Buzzer’ by judge Amanda Holden. We can’t wait to see Chaponda’s act!

Last, but definitely not least on the line-up is Noel James. For the last eight years, James has performed his comedy all throughout the country. In his own words, James is ‘Surreal, bizarre, absurd, intelligent, and yet, somehow strangely attractive. No, seriously he is a very accessible act who generally goes down well anywhere.’ Noel specialises in surreal stand-up, mixing odd jokes and wordplay into his act. He is also an actor. We’re sure that his off-kilter comedy style will leave audiences wanting more!

Hosting the night is Preston’s own funnyman, Tony Vino! Vino hails himself as the ‘only half Spanish half Scottish hybrid working comic in the world’. Born in Malaga and raised in ‘Costa Del Preston’, he was only a toddler when ‘his Father looked around saw the sea, the sand and the sunshine of the Andalucian coast and thought we need to be nearer Wigan Pier.’ He’s now been a comedian for over 10 years, best known for the way he seamlessly mixes well thought out observational humour with audience interaction and quick witted responses. He has performed and compered for Christian Aid, Oxfam, Fairtrade Foundation and TearFund. He does warm up work for BBC Songs of Praise (tough crowd) and is a regular comedy pundit on BBC Radio Manchester. We’re really looking forward to having this industry professional take us through the whole laugh-filled evening.

*Line up subject to change

The UK’s longest running Musical Theatre Concert Tour features past principal performers from Les Miserables.

Delivering over two hours of the best of Broadway and the West End, and of course ending with a stunning finale from Les Mis. The concert features David Fawcett (Valjean), Andy Reiss (Enjolras & Resident Director for the National Tour of Les Miserables), Katie Leeming
(Eponine) and Poppy Tierney (Cosette), together with a live band who capture the feel of the original orchestrations of the chosen musicals.

To this day every musical note is still played and sung live – very rare indeed. Beyond the Barricade gives musical theatre songs a bold concert format treatment – but with the conviction and intention to deliver the material as if the audience are watching the original performance.

The Skids formed in 1977 in their home town of Dunfermline, Scotland by Richard Jobson, Stuart Adamson, Bill Simpson & Tom Kellichan.

After releasing an independent single the band were played by John Peel, supported The Clash in concert and then were signed to Virgin Records in 1978. Their first singles were ‘Sweet Surburbia’, ‘The Saints are Coming’ and ‘Into the Valley’ – the latter reaching the UK Top Ten in early 1979.

Their seminal debut album ‘Scared to Dance’; came out in 1979 and was quickly followed by two chart singles – ‘Masquerade’ and ‘Working for the Yankee Dollar’. Both singles were taken from the Bill Nelson (Be Bop Deluxe) produced second album ‘Days in Europa’. The album also featured new member Rusty Egan of Rich Kids & Visage fame after the departure of Tom Kellichan. The band released two more albums ‘The Absolute Game’ (1980) and ‘Joy’ (1981) before splitting. Stuart Adamson went on to have worldwide success with his new band Big Country.

BIG COUNTRY
Formed in 1981 by guitar playing founder members, the late Stuart Adamson and Bruce Watson, both native of the band’s hometown Dunfermline in Scotland. Initially driven by a shared vision of widescreen guitar melody, harmony and lyric, the classic Big Country sound was further enhanced later that summer by the arrival of drummer Mark Brzezicki and bass player Tony Butler. This is the Big Country that (with Producer Steve Lillywhite), recorded the classic debut album ‘The Crossing’ in 1983.

The band broke massively worldwide with the release of the album’s classic singles ‘Fields Of Fire’, ‘Chance’ and signature song ‘In A Big Country’, which went on to become massive worldwide hits, selling over 2 million copies and driving ‘The Crossing’ to 3 prestigious Grammy nominations in the USA.

The run of success continued throughout the 1980′s with the release of the anthemic single ‘Wonderland’ and the second album ‘Steeltown’ (1984), which debuted at Number 1 in the UK and contained the hit singles ‘East Of Eden, ‘Just a Shadow’ and ‘Where The Rose Is Sown’.

Please note: The time stated on the website for this event is the DOORS time.
