Comedy at the Guild: September

Line up announced!

Our monthly comedy nights are now established as a great way to see the hottest new stars without paying the big price tags! Featuring three different comedians and an MC each month, you’re in for plenty of laughs and a great night out!

MC: Alex Boardman
A lifelong comedy fan, Alex stormed onto the scene and quickly became one of the most popular choices on the circuit during the late 90s. A full time comic since 1998, his skills as a writer have also been in constant demand for Britain’s most cutting edge prime time TV and Radio comedy shows. A lightening quick ad libber with a charming and natural ease, Alex is an established MC. His unique brand of “flattery and abuse” proves ever-popular with audiences, and although often dancing deliciously close to the boundaries of what is considered PC to say in public, the lack of malice and warmth to his approach means that everyone feels they’re in on the joke.

Act 1: Howard Read
Howard Read is a comic, writer, animator and actor, in that order. He is best known for being one half (and the other half), of the Big Howard, Little Howard, the world’s first human cartoon double-act. He is also an acclaimed stand-up comic, writer, author, illustrator and animator. As a stand-up Howard Read is brilliantly off the wall. Totally silly, songs and jokes and stupidness. The man is a buffoon of the highest order!

Act 2: Harriet Dyer
Fresh and unique, it’s a pleasure to spend time in Harriet’s company as she weaves her surreal and hilarious tales. An imitable raconteur, it’s easy to see how this new act is making a big noise. Harriet already has heads turning with her baffling tales of a misspent youth, and bewildering personal tales that are so ridiculous, they must be true. Establishing her own style of material and delivery after such a short time, means Harriet’s stock can only continue to rise. A unique comic voice, Dyer charms any room with matchless material, an offbeat stage presence and a truly whirlwind fizz of energy.

Headliner: David Haddingham
David Hadingham has been a professional comic since May 1996. Intense and anecdotal, David keeps audiences hooked right up to the last punch line as he presents his unique and often warped view of everyday life. This gravel-voiced comic combines supremely controlled delivery with inimitable facial contortions as he cracks some of the best handmade gags in the business.
