Comedy at the Guild: July

Line up announced!

Our monthly comedy nights are now established as a great way to see the hottest new stars without paying the big price tags!
Featuring three different comedians and an MC each month, you’re in for plenty of laughs and a great night out!

MC: Dave Williams

Dave has been a full time comedian since 1998, and is booked both as stand-up and compere by a range of venues/promoters including The Comedy Store. Dave has performed in several countries. In Australia he has headlined the Sydney Comedy Store and appeared at clubs in Melbourne and Brisbane. He has also played in Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Doha.

Act 1: Gary Meikle
Alter his first gig, early in 2013, Gary caught the comedy bug and has been progressing up the comedy ladder ever since. In his first year on the circuit had moved from doing five minute open spots in front of ten people to performing at some of the premier comedy clubs around the UK.
He also made it through to the Scottish Comedian of the Year Semi-Final. He’s known for his story telling abilities. His style is dark yet not offensive focusing on classic topics such as growing up in Glasgow and past (failed) relationships but also touches on some lesser covered topics such as his disdain for children.

Act 2: Tony Cowards
Tony is a rapid fire gag merchant with an arsenal full of one-liners, for laughs-per-minute he’s a tough act to beat! His quick wit has made him a sought after act and compere by comedy clubs and promoters across the UK and even for gigs worldwide. Something of a Twitter sensation, Tony’s jokes turn up in all sorts of places, from greetings cards to The Times newspaper, even if you’ve never heard of him there’s a good chance that you’ll have laughed at one of his gags.

Headliner: Phil Walker

Phil is one of the UK’s finest comic talents. Since being voted City Life comedian of the year at the comedy store in 2002, Phil has gone on to headline at all the big comedy clubs both here in the UK and internationally. He’s even been on telly a few times you know! His act has taken him from Skegness to Afghanistan where he entertained over 4000 troops on two tours (basically he will go anywhere for a laugh!)
