Comedy at the Guild: August

This month – Phil Walker, Mike Wilkinson, Susan Murray and Steve Harris!

*PLEASE NOTE* Jonathan Mayor was originally advertised as performing but due to unforseen circumstances, Phil Walker will be taking his place.

Our monthly comedy nights are now established as a great way to see the hottest new stars without paying the big price tags! Featuring three different comedians and an MC each month, you’re in for plenty of laughs and a great night out!

MC: Phil Walker

Phil is a regular headline act at all the big comedy clubs & a former City life comedian of the year as voted at the famous comedy store. Phil`s act has taken him to some weird & wonderful places, from a scout hut in Unst in the Shetland Isles to a portacabin on mount Alice in the Falkland Islands, basically he`ll go anywhere for a laugh, including two tours of war torn Afghanistan! – “Usain-quick wit…He keeps running jokes alive with perfect timing.” – Three Weeks Edinburgh ****

Act 1: Mike Wilkinson

Full to the brim with down to earth Northern charm, Mike takes a bemused glance at the world and then throws it a smile. The laughs come thick and fast with Wilkinson’s dry humour and razor sharp wit. Mike has a laid back style onstage, but can crush a heckler in seconds. He has supported the likes of Peter Kay, Johnny Vegas and Ross Noble, as well as headlining clubs all over the country. –
“excellent” City Life

Act 2: Susan Murray

Winner of the first ever Jongleurs Competition and a seasoned regular on the circuit, Susan has emerged as one of the best female stand-ups in the UK and has just become the first ever woman to MC Decompression gigs for the British Army / CSE. She is in the top 100 Huffington Post funny women Tweeters. Susan was also recently short listed for the BBC’s yearlong comedy writing bursary.
“Cynicism that could fell a rhino at 1000 paces. Like it.” Al Murray

Act 3: Steve Harris

Steve first leapt on stage back in August 1998 and within 3 months had won himself the coveted North-West comedian of the year award after just 5 gigs. With support slots with the likes of Johnny Vegas, Peter Kay and Lee Evans, Steve comes highly recommended from the heavy weights of comedy themselves.
Currently just off his recently successful Hit the North tour Steve has leapt back onto the comedy circuit with gusto. See him now before he gets too big.
“Quite simply, fantastically funny” BBC
