Comedy at the Guild – April 2017

Our monthly comedy nights are now established as a great way to see the hottest new stars without paying the big price tags! Featuring three different comedians and an MC each month, you’re in for plenty of laughs and a great night out!

This month’s line up:

MC: David Ward
Much loved regular on BBC3’s We Are Klang, and finalist on ITV4 FHM Stand Up Hero, David is loved for his intelligent wit and sharp gags. He is a friendly, upbeat comedian with a intelligent yet warm and cheeky outlook that gives him a unique and gentle bite. His ability to bond and audience and warm up a crowd has made him the choice compere for the BBC New Comedy Awards and C4’ s So You Think You’re Funny talent hunt.

Act 1: Scott Bennett
Scott has rapidly established himself as one of the fastest rising stars on the UK circuit. Likeable, with a warm and engaging delivery, he is a Yorkshire live wire with an undeniable no nonsense logic. In demand by many of the big clubs, Scott delivers wry observations on the absurdity of modern living. His sharply written routines have been delighting audiences across the country.

Act 2: Karen Bayley
The first ever female winner of the prestigious Comedy Store King Gong award, Karen was also a BBC New Comedy Awards Showcase final and Babycham Funny Women finalist, all when launching onto the UK comedy circuit in 2003. Brummie Karen has quickly picked up a whole host of rave reviews, comedy awards and references from her peers. Her material surprises with inspired and sparkling punchlines, with comic timing that is rarely less than brilliant.

Act 3: Phil Walker
Making a welcome return to Preston after his recent stint as Jack Trott in the annual Panto Jack & the Beanstalk but this time in a different role. Phil is a regular headline act at all the big comedy clubs & a former City life comedian of the year as voted at the famous comedy store. Phil`s act has taken him to some weird & wonderful places, from a scout hut in Unst in the Shetland Isles to a portacabin on mount Alice in the Falkland Islands, basically he`ll go anywhere for a laugh, including two tours of war torn Afghanistan!
