Flowers of Manhattan

A musical memoir of nostalgia and unanswered questions on the streets of New York.

Flowers of Manhattan
by Lee Johnson

A TV crew arrive at ‘Flowers’; a disused bar in downtown Manhattan, to film an edition of ‘Story Hunters’. Here they meet the owner, an old lady, who is ready to tell her story. With help from popular songs she takes them on a personal journey from the 50s to the present day, a story intrinsically linked with the fortunes of the old bar, and of Manhattan itself. Faces from her past are brought to life as we meet rock n rollers, waitresses, pop artists, street artists, beatniks, nuns, punks and bird watchers. A musical memoir of nostalgia and unanswered questions on the streets of New York.
