Alabama 3

Alabama 3 are an English band with a very eclectic style, mixing rock, electronic, blues, country, gospel, and spoken word styles, founded in Brixton, London in 1995.

The band was formed when Rob Spragg (a.k.a. Larry Love) met Jake Black (a.k.a. The Very Reverend Dr. D. Wayne. Love), who are now joint frontmen for the group, at an acid house party in Peckham, and decided that a fusion of country music with acid house was a musical possibility. And so, over a number of years and new additions to the lineup, Alabama 3 was born.

The band is notable for their fusion of styles, ironic lyrics, intentionally humorous personae, and outrageous live performances. Every member of the group has an alias, with names such as Wizard, LOVEPIPE, The Spirit, and Rock Freebase being just some of the amusing epithets given to the band members.
