Performing the classic album ‘STRANGE TIMES’

Plus Special Guests ONE SIDED HORSE & THE CAPITAL

ChameleonsVox is the continuation of legendary Chameleons UK, arguably the most influential band ever to come out of Manchester. ChameleonsVox features vocalist, bassist and principle composer Mark Burgess.

The Chameleons were an English post-punk band formed in Middleton, Greater Manchester. The band consisted of singer and bassist Mark Burgess, guitarists Reg Smithies and Dave Fielding, and drummer John Lever.

The Chameleons released their debut album, ‘Script of the Bridge’, in 1983. They shortly followed that with ‘What Does Anything Mean? Basically’ and ‘Strange Times’ in 1985 and 1986 before disbanding in 1987 due to the sudden death of the band’s manager.

In 2009, Burgess and Lever reformed to play Chameleons back catalogue material, under the name ChameleonsVox. They issued an EP, ‘M+D=1(8), in November 2013. Sadly Lever died in 2017 however Burgess carries ChameleonsVox on.

The UK’s longest running Musical Theatre Concert Tour features past principal performers from Les Miserables.

Delivering over two hours of the best of Broadway and the West End, and of course ending with a stunning finale from Les Mis. The concert features David Fawcett (Valjean), Andy Reiss (Enjolras & Resident Director for the National Tour of Les Miserables), Katie Leeming
(Eponine) and Poppy Tierney (Cosette), together with a live band who capture the feel of the original orchestrations of the chosen musicals.

To this day every musical note is still played and sung live – very rare indeed. Beyond the Barricade gives musical theatre songs a bold concert format treatment – but with the conviction and intention to deliver the material as if the audience are watching the original performance.

The Skids formed in 1977 in their home town of Dunfermline, Scotland by Richard Jobson, Stuart Adamson, Bill Simpson & Tom Kellichan.

After releasing an independent single the band were played by John Peel, supported The Clash in concert and then were signed to Virgin Records in 1978. Their first singles were ‘Sweet Surburbia’, ‘The Saints are Coming’ and ‘Into the Valley’ – the latter reaching the UK Top Ten in early 1979.

Their seminal debut album ‘Scared to Dance’; came out in 1979 and was quickly followed by two chart singles – ‘Masquerade’ and ‘Working for the Yankee Dollar’. Both singles were taken from the Bill Nelson (Be Bop Deluxe) produced second album ‘Days in Europa’. The album also featured new member Rusty Egan of Rich Kids & Visage fame after the departure of Tom Kellichan. The band released two more albums ‘The Absolute Game’ (1980) and ‘Joy’ (1981) before splitting. Stuart Adamson went on to have worldwide success with his new band Big Country.

BIG COUNTRY
Formed in 1981 by guitar playing founder members, the late Stuart Adamson and Bruce Watson, both native of the band’s hometown Dunfermline in Scotland. Initially driven by a shared vision of widescreen guitar melody, harmony and lyric, the classic Big Country sound was further enhanced later that summer by the arrival of drummer Mark Brzezicki and bass player Tony Butler. This is the Big Country that (with Producer Steve Lillywhite), recorded the classic debut album ‘The Crossing’ in 1983.

The band broke massively worldwide with the release of the album’s classic singles ‘Fields Of Fire’, ‘Chance’ and signature song ‘In A Big Country’, which went on to become massive worldwide hits, selling over 2 million copies and driving ‘The Crossing’ to 3 prestigious Grammy nominations in the USA.

The run of success continued throughout the 1980′s with the release of the anthemic single ‘Wonderland’ and the second album ‘Steeltown’ (1984), which debuted at Number 1 in the UK and contained the hit singles ‘East Of Eden, ‘Just a Shadow’ and ‘Where The Rose Is Sown’.

Black Peaks opening the show! And support from Palaye Royale!

Hot off the heels of winning Best Album at the Kerrang! Awards for Top 5 album ‘The Spark’, the soaring career of alt rock band Enter Shikari continues to rise as they announce their longest UK tour to date beginning on 1st December 2018.

The extensive ‘Stop The Clocks’ tour which takes in London’s Brixton Academy, The Welly in Hull, the Cheese & Grain in Frome, Cymru in Llandudno and Glasgow Barrowlands is an opportunity to see the band up close on their longest ever UK tour.

Rou Reynolds says:
“Our most recent UK tours have been of the “eight or nine shows in arenas / big sheds” variety, so we consciously wanted to switch it up a bit going into 2019. Enter Shikari have always kept dipping back into more intimate venues over the years, no matter how big our headline shows have become. That’s where we cut our teeth. The heat-sweat-and-visceral-human-connection of smaller gigs is every bit the equal of the impressive-scale-and-expensive-production of arena shows. We’ve never seen the latter as an evolution away from the former. They exist on opposite sides of the same coin for us.

It’s also no secret that austerity and the looming potential disaster of Brexit have seen people having to be a lot more careful with how they spend their money. With things being what they are right now, it doesn’t seem fair for only those who can afford the travel to a major city for a night out (plus the inevitable other costs that go along with it) to be able to see a show. Playing 28 dates across the UK is our way of taking what we do back to as many people as possible, in the most intimate and direct way”.

Under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult

Brass at the Guild 2019 & British Open Youth at the Guild Brass Band Competitions

The competitions will include five sections plus The British Open Youth at the Guild Festival and will take place together with Brass at the Guild 2019 in the Guild Hall and Charter Theatre.

This is held across Preston Guild Hall’s two fantastic venues: The Grand Hall, which was designed as a prestigious concert venue seating over 2,000 guests, and The Charter Theatre, a smaller venue with a much more traditional theatre ambiance.

A total of 40 to 50 Brass Bands are expected to compete and a wealth of fine music performances is ensured.
